Ireland has a modern knowledge economy, focusing on services and high-tech industries and dependent on trade, industry and investment. The country’s famous drinks industry employs approximately 92,000 people and contributes billions annually to the Irish economy, making it one of its biggest sectors. It supports jobs in agriculture, distilling and brewing. But a growing financial services sector base is also important, employing some 35,000 people and contributing billions in taxes annually to the Irish economy. Ireland is, in fact, the seventh largest provider of wholesale financial services in Europe.

Expansion

Hanover Search Group is a global executive search specialist founded in 1996. With offices worldwide, the firm provides search expertise in insurance and the asset & wealth management fields. Its focus includes actuarial and risk to investment management, from audit and compliance through to marketing and technology.

Since the start of the year, Hanover has added two partners to its London officer. Rob Bulpitt joined the firm from Eames Consulting Group, where he established its actuarial practice. During his career he has completed a number of assignments in the U.K., Europe, the U.S. and APAC region. Matt Pizzey brings to Hanover 10 years of experience delivering both permanent and interim recruitment solutions to the financial services sector, covering all major technology and transformation disciplines. He was previously a principal consultant in the insurance practice at Cornwallis Elt.

Hanover recently entered the U.S. with the acquisition of Opus Executive Search in Los Angeles, which now operates under Antony Pitt as U.S. managing director. Opus has experience in the U.S. wealth management sector and will operate from both the East and West coasts. The newly merged operation will benefit from Mr. Pitt’s knowledge within the wealth management market but also the additional scale, infrastructure and global reach that HSG will provide. Prior to founding Opus in 2012, Mr. Pitt was a recruiter with Willis Consulting.

The firm also recently extended its reach into Asia by partnering with ALS International. Founded in 2002 with offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, Beijing and Shanghai, ALS specializes in the financial services, legal, and commerce sectors.
