Eastward Search Partners Building Out Leadership Team for Oliver Wyman
November 10, 2016 – Eastward Search Partners is teaming up with management consulting firm Oliver Wyman on a special search project. The recruitment provider is currently assembling leadership profiles for Oliver Wyman’s digital practice buildout (partner/principal positions). Partner Joseph Carbone is leading the searches.
Mr. Carbone is beginning with creating a number of leadership profiles that will span cross-industry. Once completed, he believes this will lead to a further build-out of supporting staff, including senior managers and managers. “It’s imperative that the leadership team for the practice is a mix of SME’s from industry as well as management consulting veterans,” he said. “Multiple profiles allow for greater opportunity to evaluate the market to shape and confirm the buildout strategy,” he said. “It may slow the process up front while we conduct market due diligence and map key criteria, but it likely will give us momentum after the initial survey of the market.”
Candidates for the positions will need to have broad digital experience in a transformative environment coupled with deep industry knowledge and experience. “Ideally, candidates will come from a small pool of CDO’s (chief digital officer) or from a broader pool of CIO (chief information officer) candidates that have been involved with a major digital change as well,” he added. Eastward Search hopes to have the first layer of hires made in the first quarter of 2017.

“Culture will not be born out of this build-out, but rather be integrated into the established culture of Oliver Wyman,” said Mr. Carbone. “Of course, we are fully aware that each candidate will bring his or her own style and approach to the business, which is expected and welcomed.”
Creating buzz among the digital leadership landscape is an opportunity for individuals who might not be considering a career shift to reevaluate a move, said Mr. Carbone. “Especially due to the name that Oliver Wyman holds in the strategy marketplace.”
