BroadView Talent Partners Recruits CFO for Wesley Housing

October 3, 2025 – BroadView Talent Partners has assisted in the recruitment of Michael Pruell as the new CFO of Wesley Housing of Alexandria, VA. He will succeed longtime CFO Christopher Cherry, who will retire later this year after more than a decade of leadership that strengthened Wesley Housing’s financial foundation and guided the organization through key milestones. Wesley Housing conducted a national search for this position in partnership with BroadView Talent Partners, an executive search firm known for its success in recruiting and retaining mission-driven leaders in the non-profit sector.
“Mike’s proven expertise and strong alignment with our mission make him an ideal leader for Wesley Housing as we continue to expand our portfolio and deepen our impact throughout the Commonwealth,” said Kamilah McAfee, president and CEO of Wesley Housing. “We are thrilled to welcome his leadership as we enter the next chapter of growth.”
Mr. Pruell brings nearly 20 years of leadership in sophisticated non-profit audit, tax and financial management advising. He joins Wesley Housing after nearly two decades at AAFCPAs, a premier certified public accountant (CPA) and consulting firm in New England, where he rose through the ranks from entry-level associate to partner. In this role, Mr. Pruell specialized in providing audit, tax, and advisory services to community health centers, human and social services organizations, behavioral health providers, community development finance institutions (CDFIs), and community development corporations (CDCs), including their affordable housing and commercial development projects.
As CFO, Mr. Pruell will oversee all financial planning, implementation, and management at Wesley Housing, ensuring the organization’s long-term financial health through the review and strengthening of business units to make the organization stronger.
“Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of supporting organizations that drive impact in affordable housing and community development,” Mr. Pruell said. “I am excited to bring that experience to Wesley Housing and to contribute directly to the organization’s mission of building up individuals and communities through quality affordable housing and resident services.”
Wesley Housing is a non-profit affordable housing developer and provider in Northern Virginia that has spent decades creating stable homes for families, seniors, and individuals of modest means. Rather than focusing only on construction, the organization pairs housing with on-site services such as education, workforce development, and community engagement to help residents thrive.
Founded in 2015, BroadView Talent Partners is a national executive search firm dedicated to placing leadership in affordable housing agencies, non-profit organizations, and associations, as well as middle market companies.
