Bowdoin Group Names President, Makes Senior-Level Promotions

July 23, 2019 – The Bowdoin Group, a Boston-based executive search firm, continues to expand with several senior-level promotions, including the naming of Scott Aldsworth as president, a new role for the organization.

Among the promotions, Katelyn Marini becomes managing director, Kara Barr moves to vice president of delivery and Lindsey Potvin is the new vice president of RPO services and team expansions.

“We’re thrilled with the growth we’ve experienced under Scott’s leadership and have the utmost confidence he will take the company great places in his new role as president,” said Dave Melville, founder and CEO of the Bowdoin Group. “Promoting him, Katelyn, Kara and Lindsey into their new roles will enable us to tap into the depth and breadth of their experience and skills, so we can continue to deliver excellent service for our clients.”

Key Players

Mr. Aldsworth will be responsible for all sales, marketing and delivery outcomes across Bowdoin Group’s executive and strategic search and team expansions services. He joined Bowdoin in 2016 as its first chief revenue officer after decades of industry experience building and managing professional services teams at both venture capital and private equity backed firms. In this role, he was responsible for Bowdoin’s sales and marketing teams, overseeing the go-to-market strategy across all market verticals. Mr. Aldsworth has driven 85 percent revenue growth over three years, recently securing the firm’s top 10 ranking in the Boston Business Journal’s list of “Largest Executive Search Firms in Massachusetts (by revenue).”

Ms. Marini previously served as a principal, where she was responsible for managing key accounts within the digital health and biopharma practices, partnering with clients, including Synthego, Berkeley Lights, AbleTo and Quil, to hire top-tier industry talent. In her new role, she will continue to expand Bowdoin’s presence in these key vertical markets.

Ms. Barr joined the firm in December as head of recruiting, bringing more than a decade of executive search experience in both recruiting and research functions. Previously, she led the research and recruiting team at WinterWyman, with responsibility for the full-cycle recruitment of executive-level placements. Before that, she spent three years at Egon Zehnder where she specialized in board of director placements and data and analytics executive search. In her new role, Ms. Barr will be responsible for overseeing all of the firm’s delivery functions, including recruiting, research and operations.

A Respected Search Firm

Founded in 1994, the Bowdoin Group specializes in leadership and strategic roles for a wide range of companies, from small firms building out their executive team to large firms sourcing talent for rapid market expansion. With deep expertise in biopharma, digital health, fintech and financial services, and software, the firm specializes in the Greater Boston area with the ability to source talent and service companies globally.

Earlier this year, the Bowdoin Group expanded its team with the strategic hiring of Ms. Barr as head of recruiting as well as two senior consultants.

Brian Gatti joined the firm as a senior consultant. Previously, he served as director of research for GattiHR, a national executive search firm focused on the search and placement of human resources professionals. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years at State Street managing teams within the trade processing and wealth management divisions.

Also joining as a senior consultant was Jill Morrissey Phoenix, who brought 15 years’ experience in search and recruiting to the firm. Before joining the Bowdoin Group, she worked as a corporate recruiter with Pegasystems, which develops software for digital transformation. Her focus there was on technology, legal, finance, marketing and sales professionals. Prior to that, she spent 12 years at Robert Half Executive Search.

In addition to these three strategic hires, the Bowdoin Group also added Kinjal Vyas as an associate for research and operations, and Renee Gramolini as a recruiting coordinator, working directly with clients under the firm’s recruitment process outsourcing services. Ms. Vyas previously served as a global recruitment coordinator and operations specialist at TraceLink and as a talent acquisition coordinator at Seven Step RPO. Ms. Gramolini previously worked as a practice coordinator at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
