BoardWalk Consulting Seeking New Leader for Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital

December 14, 2023 – Executive recruitment firm BoardWalk Consulting has been retained by Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital (GSNC) to lead in its search for a new CEO. Director Cynthia Moreland and senior associate Diane Westmore are leading the assignment. The next CEO of Girl Scouts Nation’s Capital will be a dynamic visionary leader responsible for guiding the organization to fulfill its mission. As the organization’s most visible representative, the CEO must be prepared to balance the roles of leader, fundraiser, manager, community partner, and chief Girl Scout advocate. Ideally, a leader who manages with humility, care, compassion and determination. The search firm notes that the CEO will be expected to work in close collaboration with the board of directors to strengthen GSNC’s ability to deliver meaningful programs while expanding visibility and support throughout the broader community.

The CEO of GSNC believes in the value of scouting and the ability of these experiences to provide affirming life skills that encourage Girl Scouts to be excellent, never settling for average, according to BoardWalk Consulting. GSNC is seeking a leader who is deeply committed to the ideals and mission of Girl Scouts. BoardWalk Consulting Places CEO of Deep South Today
BoardWalk Consulting has placed Warwick Sabin as the inaugural president and chief executive officer of Deep South Today, a networked hub of non-profit newsrooms. Founding director Sam Pettway and directors Cynthia Moreland and Michelle Hall led the assignment. Mr. Sabin, who most recently served as chief strategy officer at Interfaith America, a non-profit that celebrates the potential of religious diversity, was selected after a seven-month national search that attracted more than 100 candidates. He is a former three-term Arkansas state representative, having served from 2013 to 2019.


BoardWalk Consulting was founded by Sam Pettway, a 30-year search veteran. Over his career in executive search, he has worked with hundreds of board members and leadership teams with entities ranging from start-ups to mature multinationals in both the corporate and non-profit sectors. Since founding BoardWalk in 2002, Mr. Pettway has served clients as varied as international relief agencies, national foundations, regional trade associations, and local agencies in dozens of markets.

Ms. Moreland is an experienced non-profit leader with more than two decades of non-profit leadership experience. She has been executive director of four non-profits in her native Washington, D.C. and Atlanta. Collectively, these organizations addressed issues of child and family welfare, community development, educational access, and youth development. Ms. Moreland’s clients at BoardWalk include global non-profit organizations like Food for the Hungry and the Asian & Pacific Islander Health Forum.

Ms. Westmore has over 30 years of search experience recruiting president/CEO, vice president and senior-level executives spanning all functional areas. She joined BoardWalk after 12 years at Spencer Stuart, where she partnered with a broad range of consultants working across multiple practices. Before that, she spent 15 years at Bowman & Associates, a boutique search firm specializing in venture-funded medical technology companies, leaving as a vice president. She began her career at La Crosse Lutheran Hospital/Gunderson Clinic in marketing.
