BarkerGilmore Expands Coaching and Advising Team

July 19, 2017 – BarkerGilmore, a New York-based boutique executive search firm specializing in building corporate legal and compliance teams, has added Maureen Brundage to its coaching and advising team. She joins a group of former general counsel and chief compliance officers that collectively offer a range of advising and coaching services for legal and compliance departments.

Ms. Brundage is former executive vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief ethics officer of the Chubb Corporation. For over 10 years, she led the global law department of the insurance giant, managing a multimillion dollar budget and overseeing legal, regulatory and compliance operations in 25 countries. She was instrumental in redesigning compliance and ethics programs, global risk management and cyber and data security. During her stint at Chubb, she made employees a priority, introducing professional development initiatives, advising the Hispanic and Latino Employee Resource Group and speaking frequently to women’s organizations. Previously, Ms. Brundage was a partner at White & Case LLP, heading the global securities law practice group and leading a worldwide team of more than 150 people.

Ms. Brundage’s experience leading global law departments, including through periods of change and transition, informs her approach to advising services such as succession planning, managing mergers and layoffs, motivation and retention of key individual contributors, corporate secretary function and governance and executive coaching.

Putting Experience to Use

“I realized I had valuable experience and insights to share with others,” Ms. Brundage said, about her decision to accept formal advising and coaching engagements. During her time leading legal departments at both White & Case and Chubb, she mentored members of her team and others who sought her expertise. Since retiring from Chubb, she has been engaged in consulting, advising and coaching. She said she regards her affiliation with BarkerGilmore as a win-win.

“Maureen brings significant insurance industry experience to the team and her dedication to the advancement of others is perfectly aligned with our mission,” said Bob Barker, founder and managing partner of BarkerGilmore.
