AGB Search Seeking Chief Information Technology Officer for Slippery Rock University

June 23, 2026 – Washington, D.C.-based recruitment firm AGB Search, which specializes in higher education leadership assignments, has been retained by Slippery Rock University to lead in its search for a chief information technology officer (CITO). Kimberly Templeton, Margaret Plympton, and Anne Hoffman are leading the assignment.
This leader serves as the University’s senior technology executive, providing strategic vision, leadership, and executive oversight for IT operations. Reporting to the vice president of finance and administration, this role ensures that IT investments and initiatives directly support SRU’s mission, administrative efficiency, and long-term institutional success.
The CITO provides leadership and direction for a team of approximately 34 and oversees enterprise technology services, IT governance, cybersecurity, support for digital learning, and data strategy, balancing operational excellence with innovation. Additional IT services such as HR and payroll, finance and procurement, the student information system, and library services are operated centrally by the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education. As an executive leader, this role will cultivate strong strategy, partnerships with faculty, students, administrators, and external stakeholders at the campus- and system-levels to drive a collaborative, forward-looking technology strategy.
Those applying must have eight to 10 years of executive IT leadership in higher education or similarly complex organizations. They should have proven success in IT strategy, digital transformation, and governance frameworks. It is preferred that candidates have a master’s degree in information technology, computer science, or business administration, or in another field with significant experience working in information technology.
Established in 1889, Slippery Rock University is a regional public master’s university and member of the Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE).
