Yahoo! to Consider Sale of HotJobs

December 13, 2009 – According to Reuters and industry sources, Yahoo! has said it was open to selling its online job site HotJobs. At the recent UBS Global Media and Communications Conference in New York, Yahoo! chief executive Carol Bartz said the company would sell the unit for the right price even though an improving economy could help its prospects. Ms. Bartz was appointed CEO of the company in January and has hulked numerous properties deemed nonessential to the company's core strategy as it seeks to cut costs, revive revenue growth and compete with Internet companies such as Google, Microsoft Corp, Facebook and Twitter. According to a study released by comScore, Inc., HotJobs only trailed CareerBuilder as most trafficked job site with 17.9 million visitors (up 23 percent from year ago).
