Virginia Tech Selects Greenwood Asher & Associates to Find New CFO

November 17, 2023 – Miramar Beach, FL-based executive recruitment firm Greenwood Asher & Associates has been called in by Virginia Tech to lead in its search for a new CFO. Denice Perdue and Jeremy Duff are leading the assignment. The CFO has fiduciary responsibility for university funds, business processes, and serves as the principal financial officer for the university. They will be a key member of the president’s council and is directly responsible for the oversight and management of the following areas within the university: Budget and financial planning, capital budgeting and financing, financial management, university controller, university bursar, finance information technology, risk management and insurance, procurement and surplus property, and the university treasurer.

Candidates should have extensive experience as a senior leader of a large multifunctional business operation, demonstrating an ability to manage resources skillfully and proactively as well as significant experience in fiscal management with direct responsibility in areas of fiscal analysis, forecasting, borrowing, accounting, and financial reporting. Greenwood Asher also notes that those applying must have experience successfully navigating change, building, and leading teams in a complex organization. They should have advanced verbal and written communication skills and experience presenting to governance boards and committees. Candidates should also have demonstrated experience designing and implementing workflows to meet customer needs while maintaining appropriate compliance and internal controls.

Mr. Duff also led the creation of the University of Virginia’s talent recruitment operation and served as a principal with DHR Global.

Ms. Perdue, senior consultant brings a wealth of higher education experience to her role as senior executive search consultant after spending 16 years at the University of West Georgia. Prior to joining GA&A, she served as the executive assistant to the vice president for business & finance gaining valuable insight into the roles of academic leadership and building strong professional connections. Ms. Perdue also worked in University Advancement and served as coordinator of donor relations and assistant director of alumni engagement.
