Summit Search Group Places Executive Director for Resource Assistance for Youth

October 1, 2025 – Ontario-headquartered executive recruiting firm Summit Search Group has assisted in the recruitment of Kate Sjoberg as executive director of Resource Assistance for Youth (RaY). This executive search was conducted as part of Summit’s 2025 Pro Bono Search Initiative, an annual program dedicated to supporting leadership transitions in Manitoba’s non-profit sector. “We’re pleased to announce the recent hire of Kate Sjoberg as executive director,” Summit Search Group said. “Kate’s longstanding leadership in Winnipeg in the areas of poverty, housing and youth, as well as her advocacy background, will continue to strengthen RaY’s efforts to end youth homelessness in Winnipeg.”
Ms. Sjoberg brings over two decades of experience in community development, social policy, and non-profit leadership. Her career has included executive roles at organizations such as The WRENCH, North Point Douglas Women’s Centre, and the Spence Neighbourhood Association, alongside academic work as an instructor in Urban and Inner-City Studies at the University of Winnipeg. Most recently, Ms. Sjoberg served as director of community initiatives at Main Street Project, where she led critical programming supporting Winnipeg’s most vulnerable populations.
“It’s been a pleasure to join RaY — an organization I’ve admired since our work together in the 2000s during my time at Spence Neighbourhood Association,” said Ms. Sjoberg. “RaY’s evidence-based approach — the HUB model, meeting youth where they are, and trauma-informed, harm-reduction practices have long influenced the youth serving sector towards more effective solutions to end youth homelessness. In the midst of ongoing systemic violence, the RaY staff continues to ensure that youth who have figured out how to survive are supported to thrive. I’m looking forward to collaborating across the sector and with the broader Winnipeg community to make sure youth continue to have an effective partner in achieving real change for themselves and their families.”
Resource Assistance for Youth is a non-profit organization in Winnipeg that provides support, advocacy, and essential services to youth experiencing homelessness and crisis. Their work is rooted in harm reduction and youth empowerment, helping young people access housing, healthcare, education, employment, and community.
