The Hogan is a high-quality psychometric evaluation of personality characteristics necessary for success in leadership. It’s designed to allow clients to more fully understand a candidate’s performance capabilities, challenges, and motivations. Consisting of an online questionnaire combined with an in-depth interview conducted by a licensed clinician, it assesses normal personality, performance derailers, and individual values that drive interpersonal interactions and decisions in the workplace. It’s a data point within our overall assessment process, and complements our own evaluative work, your interviews with the candidates, and our referencing. As an evaluation tool, The Hogan is not used as a “rule out” or “rule in” tool. Instead, it can help you make a more thoughtful and considered decision about the fit of each candidate with the overall requirements of the role, uncover further areas for evaluation, and inform specific requirements for successful onboarding.
Assessment is usually reserved for finalist candidates, and is performed either in person or via electronic interviewing prior to final-round client interviews.
