RSR Partners Expands Into Japan

January 29, 2016 – RSR Partners, the Greenwich, Conn-based corporate governance and executive search firm founded by recruiting industry veteran Russell S. Reynolds Jr., has expanded into Japan with the opening of an office in Tokyo. Jim Whittle has been appointed head of the firm’s new location.

Mr. Whittle’s executive search clients have included global Fortune 500 consumer and healthcare product companies in Japan and the U.S., as well as Japanese consumer and healthcare companies in the U.S. He has lived and worked in Japan for eight years and is fluent in Japanese. Mr. Whittle is a member of the firm’s consumer goods and services, healthcare, and retail practices.

“We are excited to have built a new office around a global brand with deep roots in Japan,” said Mr. Whittle. “Working side-by-side with our executive search and board advisory colleagues, we are confident that we will bring a new level of leadership consulting services to the country.”

RSR Partners said it sees the Japanese market as a new pan-Asian regional platform for growth.

“Japan is a fertile market for recruiters targeting multinational companies that are looking for senior talent in Japan,” said Mr. Whittle. “Companies like Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Toshiba and others also understand that their old boy network doesn’t cut it when looking for change agents to help them break outside of Japan.”
