RM Nephew and Associates Lands Top Roles for Parkland Health & Hospital System

March 14, 2019 – Executive recruitment firm RM Nephew and Associates recently completed searches for two key roles within the Parkland Health & Hospital System in Dallas. John W. Wendling is the new executive director of Community Health Plan, Parkland’s managed care organization, and Steven Roth, who was serving as the interim general counsel for the health and hospital system, has been promoted to general counsel. Search firm founder and managing partner Robert Nephew spearheaded both assignments.

Mr. Wendling, who previously worked for Gateway Health in Pittsburgh, will report to the CEO and COO of the Parkland system. He has deep experience in managed care, integration of services, accountable care organization development and patient-centered home medical models. While at Gateway, Mr. Wendling helped develop new and existing markets such as Medicaid and Medicare Advantage. Before that, he served as CEO of Magellan Healthcare in Nebraska and CEO of Healthfirst of Ohio.

Mr. Roth, who was chosen from a national slate of candidates, graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law and has a master of public health degree from the Harvard University School of Public Health. He has served the Parkland system in various legal and management capacities since 2001. Mr. Roth is active in the Dallas community and sits on several boards, including those of the Business Council for the Arts and the Dallas Zoo.
