January 27, 2022 – Globalization, digital disruption, financial markets, low-cost country sourcing, customer service pressures and, above all, COVID-19 have transformed supply chain from a tactical function into a strategic one, say recruiters. As speed to market, fulfillment rates and a global footprint become competitive advantages, companies need supply chain leaders with the right mix of business and financial acumen, risk management skills and international experience. ON Partners recently assisted in the recruitment of Michael Leggett as the new chief supply chain officer of furniture producer La-Z-Boy Inc. Heidi Hoffman led the assignment. Mr. Leggett is a global supply chain executive with over 20 years of experience in lean manufacturing environments. He joins La-Z-Boy from Dentsply Sirona where he served as vice president of global supply chain operation. Prior to that, Mr. Leggett spent seven years at Masonite International in multiple roles, most recently serving as vice president of global supply chain and sourcing.
La-Z-Boy is one of the world’s leading residential furniture producers. The wholesale segment includes England, La-Z-Boy, American Drew, Hammary and Kincaid. The company-owned retail segment includes 159 of the 351 La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores. Joybird is an E-commerce retailer and manufacturer of upholstered furniture. The corporation’s branded distribution network is dedicated to selling La-Z-Boy products and brands, and includes 351 stand-alone La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores and 560 independent Comfort Studio locations, in addition to in-store gallery programs for the company’s Kincaid and England operating units.
With a primary focus on technology, consumer, industrial and the life science sectors, ON Partners recruits C-level and board talent for public and private companies, as well as venture capital and private equity firms. Founded in 2006, the firm’s consultants work from offices in Atlanta; Boston; Chicago; Cleveland; Dallas; Menlo Park, CA; Minneapolis, MN; San Francisco; and New York. ON Partners was named one of the fastest growing search firms this year by Hunt Scanlon Media. The firm is now ranked as one of the 20 largest search firms in the nation.
Consultants John Morrow and Jeff Hocking led the search that landed Andy Chen, formerly of Match Group, with Glassdoor. Mr. Chen takes the reins of the job insight provider’s product, design, and community teams, overseeing strategy, innovation, and execution across the company’s full suite of job seeker, employee and employer products.
ON Partners consultants completed high-level supply chain and operations executive placements for a wide range of organizations last year, including Columbia Sportswear, Estee Lauder, Logitech, Netgear and Sonos. “The pandemic has exposed weak leaders across supply chain as well as many other functions, and many organizations are now focused on replacing those weak links,” said Kevin Burns, partner at ON Partners. “Leaders who are poised for success in the current environment can run toward a fire not away from it and face ambiguity with energy, optimism and inspiration.”
Ms. Hoffman is partner and leader of the supply chain practice. Considered a pioneer in the recruitment of senior supply chain executives, she specializes in the recruitment and development of senior executives in strategic sourcing, procurement, manufacturing, operations, logistics, distribution, customer service, planning, quality, engineering and operational excellence for industrial, consumer, retail, life sciences and technology companies globally. Before joining ON Partners Ms. Hoffman led North American supply chain center of expertise at Korn Ferry and founded and led the global supply chain practice at Russell Reynolds, where she also headed the North American industrial sector.
