January 19, 2022 – Top-drawer chief revenue officers are commonly found at start-ups and smaller businesses and tend to the bottom line while the rest of the C-level team expands key partnerships, seeks growth opportunities, or sources funding. That is changing. Larger businesses now view the CRO post as an essential, long-term role. In one recent search, ON Partners assisted in the recruitment of Craig Jones as chief revenue officer of StarCompliance. Partner Seth Harris led the assignment. “With our recent acquisitions, coupled with a record growth year, Craig’s experience driving business in the SaaS space is the perfect fit for where we are today and where we’re headed,” said Jennifer Sun, CEO of StarCompliance. “2022 is set to be an even bigger year for us than 2021. With Craig on the senior leadership team, I have no doubt it will be.”
Mr. Jones brings with him more than 25 years of experience growing and transforming enterprise sales, business development teams, sales operations and go-to-market strategies for SaaS companies looking to achieve fast, profitable growth. He joins StarCompliance from Syntellis Performance Solutions—an enterprise performance management provider – where, as CRO, he spearheaded the company’s growth to record results over the last two years. Prior to Syntellis, Mr. Jones held sales leadership positions at Workday, GE Digital, NetSuite, SAP and was a partner at Accenture.
“There’s so much energy around what Star is doing in the marketplace,” said Mr. Jones. “At an industry level and from the perspective of the fintech and regtech communities. I wanted to be part of that energy and contribute to it. I pride myself on being able to step into an organization, put an experienced eye on the business development practices and optimize them. The same philosophy applies to people, and I’m already impressed with the Star team. We’re all ready to take this company to the next level.”
StarCompliance is a leading provider of compliance technology software solutions. Last year, StarCompliance used ON Partners to recruit Lang Leonard as its CFO. “With the recent acquisition of Pentana Compliance (formerly known as Redland Solutions) from Ideagen, coupled with a record growth year, Lang’s deep expertise and skillset is a great fit for where we are today and where Star is headed,” said Ms. Sun. “He’s helped successfully guide and grow many companies in the B2B software space and I’m confident he can do the same at Star.” Mr. Leonard has led multiple consecutive companies through periods of significant growth and successful exits as both a CFO and COO. He comes most recently from SentryOne, a provider of B2B database performance monitoring and data-ops solutions that was acquired by Solarwinds.
