Odgers Berndtson Adds Principal In Sub-Saharan Africa Office

June 26, 2015 – Modise Makhene has been named as a principal at Odgers Berndtson Sub-Saharan Africa. He joins the firm’s Johannesburg office. Mr. Makhene brings extensive business development and client relationship management experience to the firm’s Africa location, having worked in the FMCG, media, advertising, digital & communications industries. He has also worked with clients in the retail, automotive and telecommunications sectors. Before joining Odgers Berndtson, Mr. Makhene was the South African CEO of international advertising & communications firm JWT.

Mr. Makhene was also a board director of Mindshare, a WPP media company, and was a vice chairperson of the Advertising and Communications Association of South Africa. He started his career at Tiger Brands where he was a senior brand manager. He was then general manager of Games Africa, a scratch card lottery company. He was previously managing director of Primedia@Home. He also served as a director of Primedia’s Cinema & Print division.
