Modern Executive Solutions Expands Technology Practice

May 27, 2026 – Atlanta-based talent consultancy Modern Executive Solutions has expanded with the addition of Moises Velilla as managing director in its technology practice. He brings deep experience advising organizations on senior leadership hiring and talent strategy across technology and transformation.
Mr. Velilla specializes in advising clients on executive talent strategy and recruiting transformative technology and professional services leaders. He has expertise in executive search, market intelligence, and leadership assessment, partnering with organizations to identify and attract senior executives across enterprise technology, digital transformation, go-to-market, consulting, and technical delivery functions.
Mr. Velilla has nearly a decade of experience in executive search and talent advisory, with a strong track record supporting Fortune 500 companies, private equity-backed businesses, and high-growth organizations across a broad range of industries. He is known for his ability to build trusted relationships with executive leaders, develop highly targeted search strategies, and deliver exceptional candidate and client experiences throughout the recruitment lifecycle.
Prior to joining Modern, Mr. Velilla spent nearly eight years at JM Search, where he most recently served as vice president within the firm’s technology and professional services practices. During his tenure, he led executive recruiting engagements for senior technology and business leaders, advised clients on talent market dynamics, and helped drive business development initiatives across the practice.
Before transitioning into executive search, Mr. Velilla spent his early career at Freedom Mortgage as a mortgage loan officer and also held professional roles with Brandywine Global Investment Management and Chubb/ACE Group, where he gained experience across investment management, financial analysis, technology operations, and business process improvement.
“Modern emphasizes innovation, collaboration, and future-ready leadership and is one of the few firms genuinely challenging outdated approaches by combining deep research, authentic relationship-building, and strategic advisory into one platform with a genuine commitment to understanding clients’ businesses, anticipating where leadership needs are evolving, and delivering talent solutions that create lasting value,” Mr. Velilla said.
Mark Oppenheimer launched Modern Executive Solutions in 2021. He co-founded the search outfit with his wife, Michelle Domanico, who serves as chief financial officer. Modern’s purpose, according to Mr. Oppenheimer – who serves as chief executive – is to improve “diverse representation within leadership teams.” The firm has spent months collecting, tracking, and analyzing feedback from hundreds of C-level executives before launching recently.

Modern bills itself as “an innovative executive search and integrated advisory solutions firm,” underpinned with market intelligence and assessment capabilities – strong points of Mr. Oppenheimer’s while serving in various leadership capacities at Marlin Hawk over a 12-year career with the London-based recruitment provider. As he did with Marlin Hawk, Mr. Oppenheimer addresses client talent needs with a customizable service approach. “We are determined to set a new benchmark for the search industry,” he said.
Modern offers executive search, ‘nouvelle’ assessment – a proprietary methodology designed by the firm that delves into a leader’s personality, motivators, and leadership style to investigate cultural alignment, potential, and a leader’s ability to succeed in new organizations or more complex roles; talent pipelining; succession planning; and executive research.
Newly Appointed CFO
Modern recently appointed Apostol Nikolov as its new CFO. “Apostol brings a powerful combination of strategic insight and operating experience,” said Mr. Oppenheimer. “His background advising on complex transactions and then leading finance functions within high-growth environments gives him a unique perspective that will be invaluable as we continue to scale Modern. We’re thrilled to welcome him to the team.”
