Marlin Hawk Names Americas Leader in New York

February 25, 2021 – London-based executive search and leadership solutions provider Marlin Hawk has named Tracy Murdoch O’Such as its new president in the Americas region. She joins the team with more than 20 years of experience helping organizations grow their teams and focuses on executive search, strategic intelligence, and succession planning. “As the environment for placing talent and helping our clients strategically grow their teams has changed, so must it change for us,” said David Holloway, CEO of Marlin Hawk. “Marlin Hawk has a strong growth agenda thanks to our methodology and success in finding our clients those cross-market hires that will help change their businesses for the better. Bringing Tracy onto our team will further our ability to tap into new industries and talent. Her drive, expertise, and innovative approach complements our leadership team perfectly.”
Ms. Murdoch O’Such replaces Mark Oppenheimer, who left the firm last spring and recently launched Modern Executive Solutions in Atlanta. Modern’s purpose, according to Mr. Oppenheimer – who serves as chief executive – is to improve “diverse representation within leadership teams.”
As president of the Americas, Ms. Murdoch O’Such will help to drive Marlin Hawk’s strategic changes to address new client needs. She will work closely with the firm’s global leadership team to adapt new approaches and extend the company’s existing approach that relies heavily on intelligence, in-depth research, and knowledge of the new generation of C-level executives. Ms. Murdoch O’Such is also responsible for the development of Marlin Hawk’s global digital, media, entertainment & sports practice.
“Like many industries today, talent acquisition has also been disrupted, which makes the role of C-level executives not as clear-cut or defined,” said Ms. Murdoch O’Such. “Organizations assisting companies in finding new talent need to change the lens with which we view candidates. With a commitment to reimagining how we look at human capital for our clients, Marlin Hawk’s leadership team is thoughtfully developing a science behind the art of executive search. It’s an exciting time to be joining a team that is laser-focused on changing our industry for the better with new methods, at a speed this industry has yet to realize.”
Modern Executive Solutions Launches in Atlanta
Mark Oppenheimer, former CEO Americas for Marlin Hawk in New York, has launched Modern Executive Solutions in Atlanta. He co-founded the new search outfit with his wife, Michelle Domanico, who serves as chief financial officer. Modern’s purpose, according to Mr. Oppenheimer – who serves as chief executive – is to improve “diverse representation within leadership teams.” The firm has spent months collecting, tracking, and analyzing feedback from hundreds of C-level executives before launching recently.
Modern bills itself as “an innovative executive search and integrated advisory solutions firm,” underpinned with market intelligence and assessment capabilities – strong points of Mr. Oppenheimer’s while serving in various leadership capacities at Marlin Hawk over a 12-year career with the London-based recruitment provider. As he did with Marlin Hawk, Mr. Oppenheimer will address client talent needs with a customizable service approach. “We are determined to set a new benchmark for the search industry,” he said.
“When it comes to helping our clients find their change agents and leaders of tomorrow, Marlin Hawk has always embodied a beyond-the-obvious philosophy,” said John-Claude Hesketh, managing global partner, Marlin Hawk. “So, it should come as no surprise that hiring Tracy aligns with our values and approach. We were looking for a fearless, innovative, and knowledgeable leader to help us extend our roots while moving past the current industry model to provide a service that goes beyond traditional executive search.”
Veteran Recruiter
Ms. Murdoch O’Such is focused on the convergence of media and technology working with some of the world’s most notable brands, placing C-suite leaders as chief digital, chief marketing, chief communications and chief revenue officers. Ms. Murdoch O’Such had founded her own retained executive recruitment firm, Lex Media Solution, which was subsequently sold to executive search firm Odgers Berndtson. She then went on to lead the New York office at Diversified Search Group for 15 years.
Marlin Hawk’s focus is on executive search, interim management, strategic intelligence, succession planning and talent planning.
