Kincannon & Reed Lands CEO for Calyxt

June 2, 2016 – Executive search firm Kincannon & Reed has recruited Federico A. Tripodi as chief executive officer of Calyxt, Inc., a Minnesota-based company developing healthier food products to benefit both consumers and growers. He takes over from Luc Mathis, who will continue his role as an advisor to the company.

Mr. Tripodi will work closely with Calyxt’s executive team and researchers to further the company’s mission to develop crops and food products with healthier characteristics, as well as maximize partnerships and collaborations.

“Federico has nearly two decades of experience in agricultural R&D, and his extensive professional background in this space makes him a perfect fit for Calyxt,” said André Choulika, chairman of Calyxt’s board of directors and chairman & CEO of Cellectis SA, the sole shareholder of Calyxt. “His successful track record in developing and bringing products to market – coupled with his broad experience in managing relationships with customers, partners, suppliers and academics – adds another valuable layer to our senior management team. Mr. Tripodi joins Calyxt from Monsanto, where he spent over 17 years in a variety of global and Midwest-based executive positions focused on bringing a broad range of agricultural biotech products to market. His commercialization experience includes farmer-focused seeds and traits as well as products focused on the consumer, bioenergy, animal feed and industrial product market segments. Through his career Mr. Tripodi led teams in early discovery trough commercialization phases, with roles including Omega-3 Program lead and program director of corporate strategy before becoming sugarcane commercial director for the business in Brazil.

Earlier this year, Kincannon & Reed named Alan Temple as a managing director serving clients in the produce and food sectors. His background includes a two decade long career with B&W Quality Growers, Inc., a producer and distributor of branded and wholesale leafy greens with international distribution. The firm also named Phillip Osborne as a managing director in Australia / New Zealand. His background includes CEO and CFO positions in the FMCG, beverage, food and food ingredients, and agribusiness sectors.

Just recently, Kincannon & Reed added Juan Pablo Buc Calderon as a managing director covering Chile and Peru. Within the region, he serves the firm’s agribusiness and food clients throughout Latin America. Mr. Buc Calderon previously worked extensively in Chilean agriculture, occupying key executive positions in recognized companies in the fruit export sector and agribusiness.
