Kincannon & Reed Assisted the Illinois Soybean Association in CEO Search

March 11, 2020 – Waynesboro, VA-based executive search firm Kincannon & Reed has assisted the Illinois Soybean Association (ISA) in the recruitment of John Lumpe as its new chief executive officer. He was selected from a deep pool of qualified candidates seeking the position. Managing director Carolyn Schubert led the assignment.

Lumpe will be an advocate for the farmer and coupled with his impressive resume of experience and passion for the work. We are very excited about this next chapter in the history of ISA. Mr. Lumpe’s resume includes more than 30 years of experience in association management, public relations, strategic thinking, communications and market development. His most recent role was as senior vice president of FLM Harvest where he provided strategic leadership to the organization and specifically checkoff/association clients and trade associations. Prior to that, Mr. Lumpe was executive director of the Ohio Soybean Association, Ohio Soybean Council and the Ohio Soybean Council Foundation.

In his new role, Mr. Lumpe is responsible for leading the state’s soybean checkoff programs. He will continue ISA’s commitment to achieving maximum profitability and global competitive positioning of soy from Illinois. On the policy front, Mr. Lumpe will also lead activities for Illinois Soybean Growers and non-checkoff programs.

The Illinois Soybean Association is a statewide organization that represents the soybean farmers in Illinois through two roles: the Illinois Soybean Board (ISB), which includes the soybean checkoff, funds market development, soybean production and profitability research, promotion, issues management and analysis, communications, and the Illinois Soybean Growers (ISG), which manages membership and advocacy efforts that support Illinois soybean grower interests in local areas, Springfield, IL and Washington, D.C.
