JDG Associates Tapped by the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body to Find New CEO

December 11, 2020 – Rockville, MD-based executive search firm JDG Associates has been retained by the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Accreditation Body (CMMC-AB) to lead its search for a new CEO. Principal Paul Belford is spearheading the assignment.

Reporting to the board of directors, the CEO will staff and supervise CMMC-AB’s C-suite executives. The individual will have responsibility for the following functional areas: accreditation, certification, training, assessment, operations, communications and finance/accounting.

Additionally, the CEO is responsible for overall headquarters administration and board governance. The CEO has direct responsibility for and implementation of CMMC-AB’s organizational outreach and representation across a broad spectrum of stakeholders, including the Department of Defense (DoD), the DSC and the CMMC ecosystem, among other public and private entities here and abroad.

JDG Associates said that CMMC-AB “presents a unique opportunity to grow a purposeful business from the ground up that will significantly strengthen U.S. national security and inspire other nations of the world to deploy similar programs. For the successful candidate, CMMC-AB will require the combination of an entrepreneurial mindset, exceptional managerial ability, and the drive and professionalism needed to lead the organization from design and build-out on to the execution of a program that will significantly strengthen the nation’s security with minimal to zero impact on the DSC’s efficiency and effectiveness,” the firm said.

Experience and Qualifications

The accreditation body wants candidates with demonstrated leadership in the creation and/or growth of an organization of a size, scale and complexity anticipated for CMMC-AB; to include build out of staff, facilities, policies and business operations. They must have proven competency working with the federal government, specifically, working with general officer and senior executive service levels of the DoD or equivalent civilian government, industry or academic levels. In addition, candidates should have demonstrated ability to work with/through standards bodies, certification organizations, consortiums, or other associations, consultants and managed third party organizations.

The Department of Defense released the cybersecurity maturity model certification to provide a unified approach for implementing increased resilience against cybersecurity attacks across the DSC to significantly reduce the risk of compromise to sensitive defense information located on contractor’s information systems. Now in start-up mode, CMMC-AB has been operating as both a volunteer board-led and volunteer managed organization.
