Hunt Scanlon Media Taps ZRG to Recruit New Sales Chief

November 10, 2025 – Hunt Scanlon Media, the long-time trade publisher and media concern serving the global executive search and human capital sectors, has retained ZRG to recruit the company’s new head of sales. ZRG is ranked as the seventh-largest search firm in the U.S. according to Hunt Scanlon.

“Given ZRG’s outstanding media and entertainment search practice, we could not have partnered with a more qualified firm to take this assignment on,” said Walker Manning, vice president of creative content for Hunt Scanlon. “We are confident that Erik Sorenson, Rich Tackenberg and their recruitment team at ZRG will do a great job on this assignment,” he added. “Hunt-Scanlon is a key player in the global talent business, so we are honored to handle this important assignment,” said Mr. Sorenson, global head of ZRG’s media and entertainment practice.

According to Mr. Manning, Hunt Scanlon is undergoing a major expansion across several of its business units. “Our growth plan calls for a continued build-out of our conference business and digital media platforms. This requires a seasoned professional to establish an aggressive strategy that we hope will allow us to almost double our size in a year or two,” he added.

Leo Cummings, vice president of sales & marketing at Hunt Scanlon and who co-manages the firm’s conference unit with Mr. Manning, said that Hunt Scanlon’s plan to further build its events business is well-timed. “As the overall executive search sector is expanding into new verticals, we see a big opportunity to move into new conference lines to reflect this industry shift,” he added. In 2025 Hunt Scanlon developed and hosted seven major events and the company has at least five in the pipeline planned over the next year. “In order to reach these growth objectives, we need a seasoned sales leader to chart this course,” Mr. Cummings said.

“Hunt Scanlon Media is the most widely referenced, single source of news in the human capital sector,” commented Mr. Tackenberg, managing director of ZRG’s media & entertainment practice. “We’re searching for a sales leader who sees the opportunity in Hunt Scanlon’s unique market position and has a track record of applying digital platforms and data-driven strategies to accelerate growth,” he added.

Expanded Digital Presence

Hunt Scanlon is also laying the groundwork for an expanded digital presence to complement its fast-growing conference portfolio. The company plans to enhance its online platforms to deliver more data-driven insights, premium editorial content, and integrated marketing opportunities for clients in the executive search and human capital sectors. These efforts are aimed at strengthening Hunt Scanlon’s role as the industry’s leading information and intelligence source.

“Our digital growth strategy is about creating new ways to connect firms, leaders, and investors across the talent ecosystem,” said Mr. Manning. “As we scale our media offerings, we’re looking to build out products that deliver greater reach and measurable value for our partners,” he added. Mr. Cummings noted that the new head of sales will be instrumental in driving this expansion. “We’re positioning Hunt Scanlon to capture the next wave of digital growth, and this role will be central to shaping how we take those opportunities to market,” he said.
