Harris Search Associates Recruits CISO for the University at Buffalo

February 23, 2023 – Following an extensive national search, Dublin, OH-based executive recruitment firm Harris Search Associates has recruited Joseph Grupp as assistant vice president and chief information security officer at the University at Buffalo (UB).

Mr. Grupp began his career with UBIT in 2011 as a programmer for HUB, later becoming technical coordinator. He joined UB’s dental school in 2017 and helped migrate them from paper-based patient charts to a fully electronic medical system. Mr. Grupp returned to the VPCIO area in 2019 where he has managed both Windows and Linux system administrator teams in addition to a database team for EIS. He was named interim information security officer in August 2022 and now has this role on a permanent basis.

Previously, Mr. Grupp spent 10 years with the United States Air Force. He has an MBA from the University at Buffalo in addition to degrees in computer science and aerospace maintenance from the United State Air Force, and management info systems from Bellevue University.
