Erevena Appoints John Burr Senior Partner In Financial Services

September 15, 2017 – London-based executive search firm Erevena has bolstered its financial services expertise with the addition of John Burr as a senior partner.

Mr. Burr has over 20 years of search experience across EMEA, the Americas, and APAC in B2B financial services. Previously, he served as partner and global head of financial services at Boyden. Before that he worked at Heidrick & Struggles, Korn Ferry and was a board member of one of the leading global dedicated financial services search boutiques. His search work spans Europe, North America and APAC as well as MENA and LatAm covering the breadth of the C-suite in finance, risk, operations, technology and equally global and regional roles within client coverage and product management.

“In recent years, we have increasingly been working with companies in the capital markets and B2B financial services space, and have witnessed first-hand the seismic changes occurring across the sector,” said Dan Hyde, CEO of Erevena. “Having someone of John’s experience join the team is hugely exciting and will help to grow our work in these areas substantially. His connectivity and insight into this market made him a natural team fit.”

Mr. Burr said Erevena has a deep understanding of the businesses it works with, both commercially and from a tech perspective. “With leverage from their VC networks, they are increasingly aligned with fintech,” he said. “Given the innovations in technology, new regulatory initiatives and the necessity for fundamental change in traditional financial services businesses in order to earn their cost of capital, our combined experience across technology and financial services allows us to bring a unique and creative perspective to secure the most sought after and diverse senior professional talent.”

Technology Recruiting

Erevena, which was founded in 2003, is a technology-focused executive search firm that partners with consumer and enterprise brands on innovation, venturing and digital transformation. The firm has recently filled senior positions for a number of companies in the technology sector, including Qinec, Cloud66, RES Software, Prodigy Finance, LS Retail, LLamasoft and Dashlane.

Last year, Erevena opened its first U.S. office, in San Francisco. Partner Terry Shaw and principal consultant Max Levy, who relocated from London, lead the office.

Mr. Shaw has spearheaded C-suite and strategic go-to-market searches for enterprise software and digital clients in EMEA, the Americas, and Asia Pacific. He specializes in working with hyper-growth VC-backed businesses such as Zendesk, Yammer, Huddle, RhodeCode, Ebury, Socialbakers and Stack Exchange.

Mr. Levy joined the firm in 2014 and spent two years in London. He conducts executive searches for venture capital and private equity-backed consumer businesses across fintech, ecommerce, marketplaces and healthcare.

Mr. Levy works across the entire C-suite with a focus on commercial strategy, product and marketing. Current and previous clients include eShares, Varo Money, Carwow, Nutmeg, Bink, and Worldstores.
