DHR Global Recruits Chief Supply Chain Officer for Under Armour

November 8, 2023 – Globalization, digital disruption, financial markets, low-cost country sourcing, and customer service pressures have transformed supply chain from a tactical function into a strategic one, say recruiters. As speed to market, fulfillment rates and a global footprint become competitive advantages, companies need supply chain leaders with the right mix of business and financial acumen, risk management skills and international experience. Following a comprehensive search and interview process, Christine Greybe and Jorge Herrera of DHR Global assisted in the recruitment of retail industry veteran Shawn Curran as chief supply chain officer of Under Armour.

“We are so excited to welcome Shawn to Under Armour as our new chief supply chain officer,” said Stephanie Linnartz, president and CEO. “With over three decades of experience, Shawn is a retail industry powerhouse who comes to Under Armour at this critical time with the breadth and depth of experience that we need to optimize the backbone of our business, the supply chain, to ensure that our consumers get the right products, at the right price, at the right time.”

Mr. Curran has spent his 30+ year career at Gap Inc., where he most recently served as Old Navy’s chief operating officer, where he oversaw over 44,000 associates across 1,200+ stores and managed end-to-end operations, inventory management and sourcing. Throughout his time at Gap Inc., he held several roles across the Gap portfolio of companies, including serving as COO and head of global supply chain across all seven Gap Inc. brands.

At Under Armour, Mr. Curran will oversee end-to-end planning & go-to-market, product sourcing, manufacturing & quality, global vendor base management, distribution & logistics, global customs & trade, warehousing and sustainability.

“It is an honor to be part of Under Armour, an iconic brand born out of a passion and maniacal focus on making innovative products that empower people to achieve their goals,” said Mr. Curran. “I am excited to collaborate with the talented Under Armour team to enhance our supply chain ensuring our consumers get the very best experience and highest quality products.”

Under Armour manufactures footwear, sports, and casual apparel. The company was founded in 1996 by Kevin Plank, a then 23-year-old former special teams captain of the University of Maryland football team. Mr. Plank initially began the business from his grandmother’s basement in Washington, D.C. He spent his time traveling up and down the East Coast with nothing but apparel in the trunk of his car. His first team sale, for $17,000, came at the end of 1996. Today, with more than 25 years of providing athletes with performance apparel, footwear and digital solutions, the global company has 16,000 employees and total revenues of $5.6 billion.
