AMN Leadership Solutions Seeks CEO for Children’s Hospital & Medical Center
February 7, 2020 – Executive recruitment firm AMN Leadership Solutions has been chosen to find the next president and chief executive officer for Children’s Hospital & Medical Center in Omaha, NE. Leading the assignment are recruiters Beth Ross, Christine Mackey-Ross and Jennifer Schaulin.

“The new Hubbard Center for Children, a nine-floor, state-of-the-art clinical facility will double Children’s capacity, adding more than 100 new patient beds in the 460,000 square foot tower that is scheduled to open in 2021,” said the search firm. “In collaboration with the board, affiliate partners, and dependent on community needs, the CEO will play a key role in the determination of the new tower’s occupancy and utilization, setting and guiding the institution’s strategic direction for the foreseeable future.”
The Children’s Hospital & Medical Center President and CEO will be charged with providing leadership, strategic guidance and management direction to fulfill the system’s mission and vision. The CEO models the core values and advances the operating principles necessary to improve the health of the communities the hospital serves.
An Inclusive Culture
The new leader will be expected to solidify a culture of inclusivity, working with community physicians, faculty members, affiliated delivery systems and other state/regional providers of pediatric services, said AMN Leadership Solutions.
The CEO will be responsible for leading the entire organization and its business entities. Responsibilities include establishing strategic plans and budgets; monitoring financial performance, operations, growth and mission effectiveness; and representing Children’s to governmental branches, other healthcare organizations and to the public.
This individual will work closely with the Children’s board of directors, foundation board of directors, advisory council, Children’s Physicians board of directors, Children’s Specialty Physicians board of directors, Children’s executive leadership team and academic partners to align goals and execute effective strategies on behalf of the communities served by Children’s.
The CEO will ensure that Children’s maintains its position as a leading children’s hospital in the country, said AMN Leadership Solutions. This includes advocating both for healthcare for the children that the organization serves, and for shaping Children’s to be a national leader and model of patient and family-centered delivery of care and population health management.
Role Requirements
The CEO will have a strong moral compass and will be responsible for providing mission and values based leadership, direction, support and assistance to the hospital and its business entities to optimize operational effectiveness and strategic position. The CEO is responsible for maximizing and integrating Children’s resources across the various operating entities.
Candidates will be expected to have an MBA/MHA or other equivalent advanced degree. Physicians must be board certified in their specialty. Executive leadership experience in a children’s hospital, complex medical center, integrated delivery system or an academic medical center with a national reputation for quality outcomes is essential.
Skill-sets required for the role include: strong leadership, strategic and results driven, communicator/relationship builder, change management, finance/operations and physician/provider relations.
