Two CTPartners Professional Services Specialists Leave To Join Rivals

April 14, 2015 – Michael A. Matella, vice chairman and global head of the professional services practice of CTPartners, and Adam J. Prager, a CTPartners managing partner and sector specialist in the same practice, have left to join rivals. Both were CTPartners executive committee members. Mr. Matella spent just the last 17 months with CTPartners, joining from Egon Zehnder where he worked for nearly a decade as managing partner of global professional services. Prior to Zehnder, Mr. Matella was a managing partner with Accenture for 17 and a half years. He joins Heidrick & Struggles in Chicago. Mr. Matella is widely sought after for his expertise in change management, strategy consulting, business strategy and for his professional services acumen. Mr. Prager has left CTPartners to join Korn Ferry in New York. Mr. Prager was with CTPartners for 17 years, 11 of those as a partner, where his client roster spanned several segments of the professional services arena, including management consulting and advisory, outsourcing, and business, information and marketing services; he also offered certain expertise in the life sciences and financial services sectors. Mr. Prager has led senior-level general management, practice leadership and partner engagements over a 20-year recruitment career that began with Martin H. Bauman Associates in 1993. Mr. Prager joins at least a half dozen other former CTPartners executive recruiters who have recently defected the nation’s No. 7 search firm for Korn Ferry, including: Paul Ciancarelli, Barry Bregman, John Davitt, Ron Porter, Joe McCabe and Jeremy Zeman. Close to 20 recruiters have now defected from CTPartners, or have plans to do so, for other rivals, including Heidrick & Struggles, Russell Reynolds Associates, Caldwell Partners and DHR International.
