Redgrave Launches Sustainability Practice

December 13, 2024 – London-headquartered executive search firm Redgrave has launched its sustainability practice, led by partner Kate Goodall. This strategic initiative will offer guidance to clients across both public and private markets, focusing on the development of sustainability strategies and the recruitment of the senior talent in the field. “Redgrave’s sustainability practice aims to address every aspect of building a truly sustainable business,” the firm said. “This includes recruiting experienced sustainability generalists adept in strategic development and implementation, as well as leaders with specialized technical expertise crucial for managing sustainability challenges and driving innovation, transformation and value creation. Redgrave’s new Sustainability practice represents a commitment to sustainability, providing clients with the strategic and talent resources needed to excel in a rapidly changing business environment.”

“Redgrave’s dedication to purpose-driven leadership and exceptional client delivery aligns perfectly with my own values,” said Ms. Goodall. “I am excited to work with the talented Redgrave team to provide impactful solutions that will drive meaningful change for our clients.”

“Kate’s extensive, hands-on expertise of the sustainability and ESG space, combined with her exceptional search credentials, make her the ideal leader for this practice,” said David Angel, Redgrave’s managing partner. “We are delighted that Kate has chosen to bring her expertise to our firm and I am confident that our clients will benefit greatly by having access to her knowledge and experience.”

Ms. Goodall brings two decades of relevant experience and expertise, having worked both client-side and as a specialist search professional. Her background includes managing a global ESG investor relations strategy, before developing a responsible investment proposition for a private capital investment firm. Redgrave notes that her early adoption of sustainable investing and practical experience with both private equity and publicly listed businesses positioned her to transition into search, where she has spent the last decade helping clients build effective sustainability teams that deliver on business objectives, create long-term value and help meet stakeholders ESG expectations.

Executive Search in 2024: Challenges, Trends, and Hopes for a Hiring Resurgence in 2025

For many search firms in almost all industry segments, 2024 has been a tough year. There are many reasons for the recent downturn, and some firms have experienced a dip in revenues for even longer, according to Tim Tolan, founder, chairman, and managing partner of The Tolan Group. “Lots of changes are on the horizon for 2025 on the hiring front, and search firms are waiting with bated breath while hiring decisions are on hold, and draft fee agreements are (still) sitting in DocuSign waiting to be signed,” he said. “Decisions are dragging, as are active search engagements, as hiring managers and leaders struggle to make hiring decisions in the environment, we are all trying to navigate.”

In the Hunt Scanlon 2024 Executive Recruiting State of the Industry Report, the numbers reflected a double-digit downturn in demand for executive recruiting, with the private equity sector being the most affected. “We’ve seen and experienced that firsthand, but we feel positive changes are on the horizon,” Mr. Tolan said.

“Our partnership with FBUK highlights our commitment to empowering family businesses through their unique challenges and opportunities,” said Mr. Angel. “Driven by a dedication to partnering with family businesses, we advocate for their business with the same passion they have. Whether it’s navigating generational transitions, leadership assessments or supporting family businesses in times of immediate need for talent, Redgrave’s expertise ensures every decision aligns seamlessly with both the family’s vision and the business’s needs.”

“We are delighted to welcome Redgrave as our latest corporate partner, further enriching our network of leading service providers working to support family businesses in navigating family business governance, family dynamics, and multi-generational change and succession,” said Neil Davy, CEO of FBUK. “Redgrave’s approach and track record in helping family business identify and attract leading talent will be invaluable to the growing body of family businesses, who are supported and represented by FBUK.”
