María Cristina Mejía is a Partner with Kingsley Gate Partners. With more than 10 years of executive search experience, María Cristina has worked with a variety of regional and global companies in recruiting senior executives. Among her successful placements are presidents, managing directors, country leaders, directors, and executives responsible for marketing, sales, finance, technology and human resources.
Before joining Kingsley Gate Partners, María Cristina was a Partner with Caldwell and CTPartners where she was a member of the Industrial, Professional Services, Retail, Consumer & eCommerce, and Technology practices. Previously, she was a Partner with Heidrick & Struggles, where she led the team that started their operations in Colombia.
A former telecommunications and media executive, María Cristina was President of Celumovil, Colombia’s leading cellular company. Previously she served as Colombia’s Vice Minister of Telecommunications. Other career experiences include serving as Director of Andiarios, the National Publishers Association of Written Press, and Director of Inravision, Colombia’s National Institute of Radio and TV. She gained broad business experience as Financial and Administrative Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá. While at the Universidad de los Andes, she developed and served as Director of the university’s first postgraduate journalism program.
After obtaining a law degree from the Universidad Externado de Colombia, María Cristina pursued post-graduate studies in public law at the institution and served as an Acting Professor. Her educational credentials include additional postgraduate studies at the University of Paris. Fluent in Spanish, French, and English, María Cristina has served on numerous boards of directors, including Avianca, Americatel, CaracolTV, Colseguros, Aseguradora Grancolombiana, Focine, Asocel, and Inravision.
She is based in the firm’s Bogotá location.
