Monster Employment Index U.S. Rises Eight Percent Year-Over-Year
September 7, 2011 – The Monster Employment Index (MEI), a monthly analysis of millions of online job opportunities culled from a large, representative selection of corporate career sites and job boards, has recorded annual growth rate of eight percent in August. All metro markets tracked by the Index exhibit positive annual growth. The commerce-related sectors, retail and wholesale trade continue to exhibit robust growth while the public administration and accommodation/ food services registered the steepest annual declines. “The Index exhibited an uptick in August, with increased demand for retail workers in particular, possibly driven by the back-to-school season,” said Jesse Harriott, senior vice president and chief knowledge officer at Monster Worldwide. “Current economic conditions are driving hiring growth at a measured pace across a diverse set of occupations like transportation, personal care and community services, IT and engineering.”
