McDermott & Bull Lands Chief Technology and Innovation Officer Post for Golden 1 Credit Union

September 13, 2016 – Executive search firm McDermott & Bull has recruited Val Scott as chief technology and innovation officer to Golden 1 Credit Union, the nation’s sixth largest Credit Union with $10 billion in assets. The search was led by Brandon Biegenzahn, co-chair of the firm’s financial institutions practice, along with associate consultant Michelle Davis.

During the course of the search, 171 candidates were identified throughout the U.S., with the assignment taking just 72 days to complete.

Ms. Scott is a technology leader with 25 years of experience in setting business and technology strategy, leading web-based and enterprise software development, managing network, infrastructure and help desk, and building and leading cohesive IT teams that implement long-term business, product and market goals.

Previously, she was executive vice president of technology at ClearCapital, providers of property valuations for banks and the secondary mortgage market. Before that she served in VP of technology roles with ALLDATA/Autozone and homeowners insurance carrier ASI.

“Val is the ideal candidate to lead Golden 1’s technology philosophy and strategy, enabling the institution to exude innovation within the financial services industry,” said Mr. Biegenzahn. “She is a technologist who has a strong track record of success within a variety of financial institutions.”

Golden 1 serves its nearly 800,000 members through 80 branches, and over 30,000 co-op ATMs nationwide, providing a suite of consumer finance products, services, and solutions. The company currently has 1,600 employees.

Fastest Growing Search Firm

Just a few months ago, McDermott & Bull placed George Myers as chief human resources officer (CHRO) with Golden 1. The search was also led by the same McDermott & Bull team. Mr. Myers spent 19 years with Zions and was formerly executive vice president of human resources for Zions Bancorp’s largest affiliate bank, $15 billion Zions Bank.

McDermott & Bull is the 29th largest executive search firm and listed as this year’s fastest growing on Hunt Scanlon’s Top 50 recruiter rankings. The firm serves clients in the technology, financial services, manufacturing, biotech & life sciences, retail, and professional services sectors.
