Legacy Executive Search Partners Seeking Executive Director for the Davenport-Perth Neighborhood and Community Health Center

January 18, 2024 – Tony Woolgar and Liz Latimer of Legacy Executive Search Partners are currently looking for a new executive director for the Davenport-Perth Neighborhood and Community Health Center in Toronto. The current executive director is retiring after an accomplished tenure of 15 years and the board is looking for a leader with a passion for healthier communities and the foundational role of primary care within them. They will inspire that same passion across the organization and work collaboratively with funders and community partners to continue to deliver and develop services in an integrated and holistic manner.

Reporting directly to an engaged board of directors and working closely with committed management and dedicated staff, the executive director will be a visionary organizational leader and strategic community partner committed to service excellence, social justice, equity, inclusion and diversity, and improved population health and wellness for the communities served.

Legacy Executive Search Partners notes that the executive director will have at least five years of relevant non-profit senior management experience. Experience in community services leadership would be highly desirable. They will hold a graduate degree in business or public administration, or a combination of equivalent education, job-related training, and experience. Candidates must have extensive knowledge of managing government-funded programs will be essential as will a proven track record of working collaboratively with community partners. Experience of a leadership role in a unionized environment will be an asset.

As a visionary and inspirational leader with excellent interpersonal, communications, and team building skills, the executive director will promote a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement, and demonstrate an understanding of working in a culturally diverse and changing community environment.

The Davenport-Perth Neighborhood and Community Health Center is a multi-service agency located in Toronto’s west end, which has been serving the community since 1985. The non-profit believes that every person is capable of taking responsibility for their own wellbeing. The organization serves those who experience social and economic barriers through programs and services focused on mental health, health services, addictions support and harm reduction, social support navigation, and health promotion. The Davenport-Perth Neighborhood and Community Health Center has an annual budget of $6.9 million and a complement of 75 dedicated staff as well as many volunteers and active participants from the community.

Mr. Woolgar is a partner in the Legacy office in Toronto and heads up the national healthcare and not-for-profit sector leadership practice. He is a leader in the field of healthcare with over 30 years of organizational management and leadership experience, including 15 years at the CEO level. Prior to joining Legacy, Mr. Woolgar worked as an independent management consultant with healthcare organizations and leaders across Ontario to improve personal, team and organizational effectiveness and was also the CEO of Connective Intelligence Health Systems. He has experience in strategy development, team building and individual career counselling and coaching as well as a passion for optimizing individual, team and organizational performance.
