Korn Ferry Retained by MidMichigan Health for CHRO Search

July 28, 2020 – Korn Ferry has been called in by MidMichigan Health to lead its search for a new senior vice president and chief human resources officer.

The CHRO is responsible for all aspects of human resources and education across MidMichigan Health. Korn Ferry said this position is “responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of matrix management, succession planning, talent management, change management, organization and performance management, training and development, labor strategy, benefits, employee relations and compensation. This position also oversees wellness and employee activities.”

This role will set HR targets, recommend benefits, as well as develop short- and long-term HR plans. The CHRO will also have a strong focus on workplace culture and employee engagement.

Qualifications

MidMichigan Health wants a purpose-driven leader with strong patient focus and results orientation, said Korn Ferry. The individual should have a minimum of 10 years of progressive HR experience. The leader must have experience aligning system-level, strategic HR needs with that of hospital/clinic operations and a track record of leading a complex portfolio within a multi-site health system. In addition, the right candidate must have a successful track record of improving overall HR metrics, including but not limited to improved turnover, improved employee engagement scores, innovative benefit offerings and improved overall HR operations.

Hunt Scanlon Media has tracked a number of CHRO search assignments over the past month. Here’s a sampling taken from the company’s daily newswire archives:

New York City-based executive search Miller Black Associates has placed Carrie Yonenson as the new CHRO of ACA Compliance Group (ACA). She will be based in ACA’s Silver Spring, MD office. Ms. Yonenson has over 14 years of experience in human resources and employment law. She joins the company from Atos IT Solutions and Services. At Atos she served as the human resources chief operating officer for North America and held other positions including the head of employee relations and employment counsel and senior vice president of human resources.

The Christopher Group (TCG) has been retained by the American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) to lead the organization’s chief human resources officer search. Founder and CEO Thomas Christopher, recruiting manager Kristen Pace and senior operations manager Matthew Duda are leading the assignment. “The Christopher Group is pleased and honored to launch our second chief human resources officer search for a leading national trade association,” said Mr. Christopher. “This is a very dynamic and exciting organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. whose members include 10 of the largest hotel chains in the world.”

Los Angeles-based Shelli Herman and Associates just placed Maurice Wiggins as the first chief human resources officer of the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. Shelli Herman, president of the recruitment firm, led the assignment along with her associate, Krista Haley. “With this hire, our client was really looking for someone who put people and culture first,” said Ms. Herman. “The Whitney Museum has a long and robust history of hiring and mentoring great people who are deeply passionate about the work and enormously committed to mission.”

Hanold Associates’ Keri Gavin, Mayank Parikh, Lisa Butkus and Jason Hanold have placed former Coca-Cola Co. executive Shane Smith as CHRO of Tailored Brands. Moderna Therapeutics, a company racing to develop a vaccine for COVID-19, is also partnering with the Chicago-based search firm for multiple HR leadership searches. Hanold Associates is also partnering with Cambridge, MA-based Moderna Therapeutics on multiple human resources leadership searches. Ashley Schiele, Katrina Prospero, Kile Hanold, Sandra Peña and Mr. Hanold are leading those searches.
