Kirk Palmer Associates Recruits Chief Brand Officer for Eighth Day

August 16, 2024 – Retail-focused executive search firm Kirk Palmer Associates has assisted in the recruitment of Alison Devine as chief brand officer of Eighth Day. Partner Lindsay Stevens, principal Courtney Schluender, and search manager Sarah Basto led the assignment. “Skincare brand Eighth Day sought a Chief Branding Officer to create passion and loyalty among discerning consumers and build an iconic luxury brand,” Kirk Plamer said. “The high-growth company desired a talented marketer with the right blend of best-class beauty experience and an entrepreneurial mindset to scale the emerging scientific beauty brand in the right way.”

Ms. Devine is a results-driven senior marketing executive for luxury consumer goods and services. She has full-funnel, omnichannel expertise with deep strength in brand building, CRM, analytics, 360° product launch strategy, and business process innovation. Ms. Devine has global experience across the U.S., European and Asian markets.

Previously, Ms. Devine served as fractional CMO and strategic marketing consultant of her own business Alison Devine Consulting, LLC. Before this, she served as VP of consumer engagement and La Mer global marketing of The Estée Lauder Companies. Prior to that, Ms. Devine was executive director, fashion, watches and fine jewelry for Chanel. She also served as marketing director, Ralph Lauren Fragrances at L’oréal.

Founded in 2021 by dermatologist and skin cancer surgeon Dr. Antony Nakhla, and backed by L Catterton’s early-stage beauty platform Elevate, Eighth Day is a skin care brand. Its key product is their Regenerative Serum, the brand is built around its peptide-rich plasma technology, which comprises 24 bioidentical synthetic peptides, growth factors and amino acids.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Stevens gained more than 15 years of marketing and digital strategy experience at companies including Apple, kate spade new york, and C. Wonder. Additionally, she is a consultative partner to businesses at every stage of growth and provides guidance on organizational design, talent assessment, and executive compensation.

Ms. Schluender has 15 years of experience recruiting talent within the consumer internet space. She joined Kirk Palmer in 2017 after a 10-year stint with Walmart.com, where she had a hand in building the team from 400 to over 2000 employees. At Walmart.com, she recruited for the marketing, creative and site merchandising teams.

Ms. Basto is a search manager at Kirk Palmer Associates. She support teams in delivering a white-glove executive search experience, working to ensure clients and candidates feel prioritized and valued. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Basto gained industry exposure in roles at Newell Brand, Adicora Swimwear and Amazon, where she worked as a fashion specialist.
