Job Surge in U.K. Financial Services Sector

November 22, 2010 – The U.K. executive job market experienced a shift this year with the financial services sector nearly doubling its hiring demand, outpacing job growth in all other major industries, according to a study by Experteer.co.uk, a career service. The study recently analyzed the availability of senior-level positions across various industries. Using data from one of the most active months in the recruitment industry, the September 2010 figures reveal the strongest executive job growth in the financial services sector, compared to the same period in 2009. Overall, the consulting industry still retained the top spot with its 25 percent share of the U.K. executive job market, but its year-over-year growth dropped by three percent from 2009. “Given the fact that the financial industry is one of the pillars of the U.K. economy, it is no wonder that during the global crisis our country was harshly struck,” said Nina Zimmermann, head of international at Experteer. “Nevertheless, our executive talent has once more proved its versatility. With an increase of almost 10 percent of the executive job market share in 2010, the U.K. financial market appears to have regained its stamina.” Experteer is an online executive jobs website in the U.K. and across Europe, features more than 70,000 job opportunities at salaries above 50,000 and a network of 7,000 approved headhunters.
