Hunt Scanlon Releases Cybersecurity Recruiter Rankings

March 6, 2016 – Hunt Scanlon Media, a global market research provider focused on executive search and C-suite hiring, today released its first-ever ranking of cybersecurity recruiting specialists. Twenty leading search firms were inducted into Hunt Scanlon’s inaugural ‘Cyber 20’ based on market reputation and dedication to finding best-in-class cybersecurity leaders. The ranking can be found in the company’s special edition of Executive Search Review.

“The hunt for seasoned cybersecurity talent has seen a dramatic increase in the last two to three years,” said Scott A. Scanlon, the report’s editor-in-chief. “This comes as companies have put a greater emphasis on, and given higher priority to, corporate security. But stepped-up demand is exceeding the available talent supply by a widening margin.” Therein is the opportunity, and tremendous challenge, for recruiters dedicated to the sector.

Mr. Scanlon said that as corporate cyberattacks grow in magnitude, complexity, and frequency, massive security lapses have left many companies vulnerable and exposed. “To address this risk, executive recruiters are leveraging their networks to identify next-generation leaders in the space,” he said.

“Cybersecurity is quickly transforming from an independent corporate function to a full-fledged integrated business sector,” said Mr. Scanlon. “That’s the biggest shift we’ve seen and why companies have been caught flat-footed and short on talent.”

“Information security is the ultimate competitive advantage of the 21st century,” said Mr. Scanlon. “The hunt for top-flight cybersecurity talent is therefore the crowing management challenge of our times.” Mr. Scanlon said high demand and a short talent supply line is leading to a ‘bidding war’ for cybersecurity talent throughout the security and risk sectors.
