Hudson Gate Partners Recruits Chief Technology Officer for Mogo

January 4, 2023 – Hudson Gate Partners recently recruited Brad Shapcott as the first chief technology officer of Mogo, a NASDAQ-traded digital payments and financial technology company in Vancouver, British Columbia. Ryan Kellner, Hudson Gate’s head of technology recruiting, was retained to lead the search. “We are very excited to have Brad join as our inaugural CTO,” said Greg Feller, president of Mogo. “Brad has a wealth of industry experience and we believe he is the perfect person to lead our technology organization to the next level, and to execute on our biggest new product introduction.”

Mr. Shapcott brings to Mogo three decades of software and IT expertise with global experience in numerous demanding leadership roles. He began his career in the technology industry as a software developer, architect, and software development manager for Amazon, Boeing, Nortel, IBM, and Symantec. In 2013, Mr. Shapcott switched industries and moved into retail and E-commerce as the director of engineering for a start-up fashion company, Indochino, where he helped to pioneer their online, custom-tailored menswear concept into an industry leader, as well as helped launch its brick and mortar presence nationwide. After Indochino, he headed the development of a new Tokyo-based headquarters for Indeed as their engineering site director, growing the office to a technical staff of 400. Most recently, Mr. Shapcott was the CTO of Essilor Group, a global provider of production of eyewear products and lenses with nearly 70,000 employees worldwide.

“Mogo’s continued commitment to growth and building innovative products in the finance space was a key selling point for this opportunity. I look forward to leveraging Mogo’s current products and engineering platform while not being constrained by them,” said Mr. Shapcott. “I hope to build on Mogo’s existing solutions while increasing efficiency and focusing on key differentiators in product engineering. Mogo is a great example of an established business with high potential for growth through continued innovation. Being headquartered in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia is extremely appealing. Ryan Kellner at Hudson Gate was extremely communicative throughout this process and did a great job of representing and framing the opportunity.”
