Bullhorn Acquires Staffing Automation Company Herefish

January 10, 2020 – Bullhorn Inc., which provides cloud-based customer relationship management and operations solutions for the staffing industry, has acquired Herefish, a provider of automation solutions for staffing firms. Terms of the deal were undisclosed.

Herefish, a longtime Bullhorn Marketplace partner, is one of the leading providers of staffing business process automation, and its solutions are expected to help Bullhorn customers improve recruiter productivity, maintain higher data quality and accuracy, and improve communication between recruiters, colleagues, candidates and customers.

“Staffing firms face numerous challenges across their businesses, but one thing is constant: All firms are looking to keep up with customer demands,” said Art Papas, founder and CEO of Bullhorn. “Moving to a fully digitized infrastructure with automated processes will help these firms keep pace. Herefish provides critical building blocks to enable this transformation, so that our customers can reap the benefits from improved productivity and top-line growth.”

“Automation is critical to the digital transformation of the staffing industry,” said Jason Heilman, CEO of Herefish, “and we’re excited to join the Bullhorn team and bring productivity and messaging efficiencies to the top staffing firms in the world. Bullhorn and Herefish have very customer-centric cultures and we cannot wait to help our customer base to prepare for the future and prepare to win.”

Navigating Transformation

The Herefish organization will be integrated into Bullhorn. Mr. Heilman will join Bullhorn’s extended leadership team and will report directly to Matt Fischer, Bullhorn’s president and CTO.

The acquisition is expected to help firms accelerate transformation by enabling companies to automate time-consuming and manual spreadsheet-based processes to improve bottom-line and top-line growth. On average, Herefish automates 7.2 million actions per month and saves 2.55 hours per recruiter per day, said Bullhorn. As Herefish expands to support more use cases and works with more companies, these productivity enhancements will continue to grow.

“This acquisition bolsters Bullhorn’s endeavor to help its staffing customers navigate through the journey of digital transformation – first by digitizing data through Bullhorn’s core platform, which provides a single system of record, second by automating staffing processes, and third by harnessing the power of artificial intelligence for better business decision-making and business transformation,” said Bullhorn.

“Herefish directly addresses these steps to digital transformation by helping digitize assets and automate key staffing business processes,” said Bullhorn. “The addition of Herefish to Bullhorn’s portfolio of solutions is strategically well-aligned with the company’s goal of being a trusted partner to the staffing industry and helping its customers reduce manual labor while increasing ROI and recruiter productivity. As Herefish is a longtime Bullhorn Marketplace partner, the company represents a best-in-class solution to complement the Bullhorn portfolio. Herefish’s automation and communications solution helps Bullhorn customers optimize their use of the Bullhorn ATS and CRM.”

Eliminating Manual Tasks

As a leading marketplace partner, Herefish helps staffing and recruiting firms automate many of the manual, time-consuming process and messaging tasks throughout the recruiting process so that their teams can focus on what’s most important – building and nurturing human relationships. By eliminating error-prone manual tasks and maintaining completeness and accuracy of a firm’s database, employees not only have more time in their day to focus on revenue-generating activities, but also produce better results because they’re working with higher quality data.

Bullhorn Appoints Chief People Officer
Bullhorn Inc. named Kristin Machacek as its chief people officer. She will be based at the company’s headquarters in Boston and will serve on the company’s senior leadership team. Mercedes Chatfield-Taylor handled the search on behalf of Caldwell. “Kristin is a business leader first, and an HR leader second,” said Art Papas, founder and CEO at Bullhorn.

Herefish allows firms to effectively replicate their best employees by automating the ideal workflow across every employee – ensuring that everyone performs the right actions, every time – and subsequently allowing the entire team to benefit.

Bullhorn is a global leader in CRM and operations software for the recruitment industry. More than 8,000 recruiting companies rely on Bullhorn’s cloud-based platform to drive sales, build relationships and power their recruitment processes from end to end. Headquartered in Boston, with offices around the world, Bullhorn is founder-led and employs more than 900 people globally.

In October, Bullhorn made an increased investment in Bullhorn Consulting Services, including the promotion of team leader and staffing industry veteran Melissa Rosen to vice president of the division. Bullhorn Consulting Services pairs highly scalable service with staffing industry knowledge to help enterprise staffing customers complete their implementation of Bullhorn solutions in minimal time. Having spent 20 years helping more than 10,000 customers drive business growth, Bullhorn said that it is “positioned to deliver enterprise-scale consulting services with experts that have decades of staffing industry experience and best practice knowledge.”
