Boyden Expands to Quebec

March 1, 2015 – Executive search firm Boyden will open a new office in Montreal this week, expanding its presence in one of the fastest growing search markets in North America. Roger T. Duguay, a former managing partner of Odgers Berndtson in Montreal, will lead Boyden’s new team there. In the past year, more than 100 search professionals have joined Boyden in Calgary, Ottawa, Toronto and Vancouver giving the firm one of the largest recruitment platforms in the region. According to data compiled by HSZ Media, the Canadian search market in 2014 enjoyed fees exceeding $150 million-plus. “Canada is one of the most important talent markets worldwide,” said Scott A. Scanlon, HSZ Media managing director. “It is also fiercely competitive.” The service sector dominates the region, which includes leading companies in aerospace, financial services & banking, oil & gas, logging and automotive. “Roger is an amazing talent and he is the right addition to lead our launch in Montreal, which is a critical market to extend our growth in Canada and the Americas,” said Trina Gordon, president and CEO of Boyden World Corporation. “He brings a dynamic background in C-suite and senior leadership advisory, making him an invaluable resource for Canadian boards and company leaders.” Mr. Duguay brings 20 years of experience in management, talent strategy and human capital development with the private and public sector in business and professional services, financial services, industrial and media & entertainment. His consulting expertise includes leadership assessment, organizational engagement, change management and executive compensation. “Boyden is a pioneering firm with global reach and a strong U.S. presence. This will be a great combination for our clients in Quebec,” said Mr. Duguay. “We’re delighted that Roger has made the decision to join Boyden,” said Jim Harmon, a managing partner of Boyden Toronto. “The new Montreal office not only strengthens our ability to serve clients in Quebec, it significantly enhances our reach into Quebec on behalf of all our clients, particularly those requiring leaders competent in both official languages.” Prior to Odgers Berndtson, Mr. Duguay worked for 10 years at consultants Hewitt Associates. He later served as EVP at a Montreal-based high tech company.
