Focus Search Partners Expands Into L.A.

April 12, 2016 – Focus Search Partners, the executive search division of Vaco, has added Julia Dupps as a partner leading its expansion into Los Angeles. In her new role, she will recruit nationally for executive level positions in the healthcare and life sciences industry.

With more than 14 years of recruitment experience, Ms. Dupps most recently served as a managing consultant with Korn Ferry Futurestep. There, she was a member of the firm’s healthcare services and life sciences search practice. Prior to that, she was a consultant with Caldwell Partners, where she was a member of its healthcare services & life sciences practice. Her search work has been focused in biotech, chemical, healthcare services and medical devices. Earlier in her career she gained recruiting experience with Heidrick & Struggles and Bench International. She began her early career as a corporate recruiter and gained experience working internally for Sanofi.

“What a powerhouse executive recruiter to add to the team. Julia Dupps’ phenomenal experience and commitment to top-notch service makes her an extraordinary emissary for Focus Search Partners’ further expansion on the West Coast,” said Jerry Bostelman, Vaco CEO and founding partner.

“I am thrilled to join Focus Search Partners’ highly regarded team as they continue on their exciting growth trajectory. My goal is to provide the best executive talent for our clients on the West Coast and beyond,” said Ms. Dupps.

“Julia perfectly rounds out our growing team,” said Paul Frankenberg, managing partner of Focus Search. “Her charisma and eye towards the future expands our ability to fulfill clients’ nationwide needs and provide an exceptional experience. We are truly excited to have her on board.”

The economy of Los Angeles is driven by international trade, entertainment (television, motion pictures, video games, music recording, and production), aerospace, technology, petroleum, fashion, apparel, and tourism. Other significant industries include finance, telecommunications, law, healthcare, and transportation. The Los Angeles–Long Beach metropolitan area has a gross metropolitan product of $866 billion, making it the third-largest economic metropolitan area in the world, after Tokyo and New York.

Focus Search’s L.A. expansion follows the firm entry into the San Francisco market with the acquisition of search firm Charlson Partners. This move enabled Focus Search to expand into the technology sector.

The firm’s parent company, Vaco, offers consulting, contract and direct hire solutions in a number of sectors, including accounting, finance, technology, healthcare, operations, and administration, among others. Since its founding in 2002, it has expanded to more than 30 offices.
