Nelvia spent 15 years as Senior Vice President with Carrington & Carrington, Ltd. and was responsible for developing and leading a major practice group in not-for-profit and education.
Prior to joining Carrington & Carrington, Ltd., Nelvia was served as Director of Diversity for Trinity Christian College before becoming the first African-American and first female to serve as Chancellor of the City Colleges of Chicago. Nelvia earned a MS from University of Wisconsin and a Ph.D. from Michigan State University.
She founded and serves as President of AARP Tennessee’s newest chapter, #5449 and was appointed to the AARP Tennessee Executive Council in January 2013 as the West Grand Division Volunteer Leader.
