Senior Talent Consultant

Michelle Powers serves as the Senior Talent Consultant for Cook Silverman Search, bringing 15+ years of experience as a fundraising and talent leader for institutions including Tufts University, Stanford Law School, and History San José.

Throughout her fundraising career, Michelle has delivered measurable results in fundraising, membership, marketing, and social media through a strategic, holistic approach. In particular, Michelle enjoyed facilitating an exceptional experience for donors, collaborating thoughtfully with board members, and partnering with internal and external stakeholders to drive successful campaigns.

On a parallel path, Michelle cultivated experience and knowledge in the talent lifecycle space, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and intentionally developing exceptional team members. In addition to her work with Cook Silverman Search, Michelle is a fractional Chief of Staff and Operations Partner for coaches, entrepreneurs, and other experts in the talent space.

Previously, Michelle taught Fundraising + Marketing and Strategic Thinking + Planning courses in the JFK University Museum Studies program. Michelle served as a member of the Board of Directors of Cultural Connections, the Association for Talent Development – Golden Gate Chapter, and the California Association of Museums. Currently, Michelle volunteers in the community as a member of the Junior League of Dallas and serves on the board of BrainCharge, a nonprofit whose mission is to serve the community of caregivers who are supporting individuals impacted by brain-related trauma, injury, or illness.

Michelle earned her BA in Psychology and Art History from Clark University, her MBA/Master’s in Museum Studies from JFK University, and a Leadership & Management certificate from U.C. Berkeley.
