Brettschneider Executive Search Recruits Executive Director for the Carter Burden Network

April 7, 2026 – Following a comprehensive national search, New York City-based Brettschneider Executive Search has assisted in the recruitment of Joy Salvador as the new executive director of the Carter Burden Network. “Joy Salvador represents the very best of Carter Burden Network’s values,” said the board of directors. “Her leadership reflects our promise to always go above—and to ensure that every older New Yorker we serve knows they belong.”
Ms. Salvador brings to Carter Burden Network a distinguished executive background from Macy’s, Inc., where she has led complex, multi-site operations and managed $100M+ P&Ls with full accountability for strategy, financial performance, talent, and community engagement. As a senior executive overseeing a 24-site national network, she has driven organizational transformation, built inclusive and hospitality-forward cultures, and delivered sustainable growth during periods of significant uncertainty. Her experience includes leading large, diverse teams; forging high-value internal and external partnerships; collaborating with municipal agencies; and navigating regulatory and compliance requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
Ms. Salvador brings more than 30 years of senior leadership experience, including stewardship of complex budgets and management of large, multi-site teams. “At a time when diversifying revenue is essential, she offers deep financial acumen alongside long-standing relationships across the corporate sector built through trusted, sustained partnerships,” Carter Burden Network said in a release. “This combination positions Carter Burden Network to strengthen and expand its funding base while remaining firmly grounded in mission. This operational rigor is matched by a decade of Board service and volunteer leadership at Carter Burden Network, reflecting a deep, sustained commitment to older adults. A skilled relationship-builder and trusted public ambassador, Joy brings a proven ability to align stakeholders across sectors in service of mission, scale, and long-term impact.”
The board also announced that William J. Dionne, whose leadership has shaped Carter Burden Network for decades, will begin a planned transition in June. “To ensure a smooth transition, Bill and Joy will be working together through the month of May,” the organization said. “Having worked together for many years already, Bill is enthusiastic about Joy as the next executive director to continue to be the champion of the older adults we serve.”
