Thomas Dowdy

Over the past 25 years, Tom has focused on serving the energy industry in talent attraction in both executive search and human resource management. He has assisted clients and employers in completing projects in North America, Europe, former Soviet Union, Middle East, Africa and Asia. Working on projects around the world, Tom has a global network and firsthand knowledge of international oil companies, drilling contractors, oil field services and manufacturers.

Before joining The Energists, Tom held senior Human Resources and Talent Acquisition roles at BP, Parker Wellbore, Weatherford, Tenaris and Daikin Comfort. While at BP, he was the head of resourcing where he led the company’s external and internal recruitment at all levels in Russia.

Earlier in his career, Tom worked as a partner and general director in Russia for Preng & Associates (a Houston based executive search firm focused on the energy industry) and became one of the top executive search consultants assisting both international and Russian energy clients.

Tom started his executive search career as a consultant at Ward Howell International in Moscow; where he initiated the firm’s Energy Practice in the former Soviet Union.

Tom earned his BA degree in Russian Language from Ferrum College. He is fluent in Russian and lives in Houston with wife and 3 children.
