Michael G. Johnson is a Strategic Partner of The Koblentz Group and the CEO of Johnson Talent Development, a thought partner & coaching firm focused on the development and succession of next generation leaders.

Mike is a highly recognized leader on human capital matters who advises our clients on succession and talent, leadership development challenges and on making the executive recruiting process more effective, robust and efficient. Mike is current and is keenly aware of the challenge of reinventing the way HR identifies and prepares leaders to align with strategic priorities and value creation in today’s rapid change disruptive environment.

Previously, Mike was UPS’ Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) where he regularly interfaced with the UPS Board and Management Committee in defining, influencing and operationalizing global talent & leadership strategies aligned to its business strategies.

Accordingly, Mike was involved in all aspects of HR, working deeply in recruiting & hiring, talent management, leadership development and succession planning.

While at UPS, Mike was an Advisory Board member and guest Presenter at the Center for Effective Organizations (CEO) at USC’s Marshall School of Business; an Executive-in Residence at Executive Networks; a member of the Board of Directors of the HR Policy Association (CHROs of the largest US Employers); involved in the White House’s “Upskilling Initiative” and a former “think tank” member of both Aon Hewitt’s Human Capital Leadership Council and Towers Watson’s, “Thinking Ahead Group”.

He is a past member of the Executive Leadership Council (ELC) where he served on the Advisory Board of ELC’s Leadership Institute; past Board Chair of the National Black Child Development Institute and past board member of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL).

He continues to serve on the Board of Directors of UNIDOS US (formerly the National Council of La Raza) where he chairs the Compensation Committee and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation where he serves on the Executive Committee.

Mike holds a B.A. in Human Resources Management from DePaul University. He has completed HR Executive Management programs at the University of Michigan and Emory University.
