Kimberly A. Smith, FACHE, is a senior partner and leads the Academic Medicine and Health Sciences Practice. Her expertise blends a professional backdrop as a former hospital executive with the experiential learning that comes with leading senior leadership searches in academic medicine, health sciences and community healthcare. For every engagement, Kim brings astute awareness of the most pressing challenges and trends facing her clients while applying her expertise in leadership development, operations, physician relations, employee satisfaction and patient experience, when cultivating the candidate pool. Based in the firm’s Boston office, Kim focuses on searches for CEOs, COOs, physician executives, medical school deans and other senior and academic administrators.
Kim joined the firm after many years in senior level operations and human resources at Northeast Health System and Beverly Hospital in Beverly, MA. She served as chief operating officer for the Beverly Hospital Hunt Center and was an integral member of the senior management team that positioned Northeast Health as a leader in vertically integrated healthcare systems. Most recently, she was president and CEO of Jewish Memorial Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Boston where she had executive accountability for the 207-bed, long-term acute care hospital.
Active in the advancement of healthcare leadership and a regular speaker at industry events, Kim is board certified in healthcare management as an ACHE Fellow (FACHE), and formerly served as president of the Massachusetts Chapter of ACHE. Kim has also served in leadership roles in community organizations. She is the former chair of the Southern Essex Workforce Investment Board and the former co-chair of the North Shore Healthcare Consortium, a collaboration of more than 20 hospitals and higher education institutions.
Kim is the former vice chair and lead director of WittKieffer’s board of directors.
