James began his search career in London before moving to New York in 2008. After a decade with an international search firm partnering with luxury, retail and consumer goods brands, he joined Sotheby’s in 2014 as the Vice President of Talent Acquisition for North America.

At Sotheby’s, James was central to creating and executing hiring strategies to compliment a transformational and digital growth strategy as the business modernized under new leadership. Working hand in hand with C level leadership, James has an unrivaled passion for delivering exceptional talent for his clients, representing the brightest and most exciting future leaders in the market today and designing search strategies unique for every client.

A trusted business partner and talent strategist, James brings a creative and engaging energy to every search he conducts. He also offers clients a unique insight into building internal talent functions and designing best practices and processes for in house recruitment teams. He is a true advocate for the importance of a unique employer branding strategy and advises his clients on how to create, design and measure employer branding ROI.

James’ search focus is predominately senior-level finance assignments (CFO, Controller, Chief Accounting Officer, Corporate Strategy, Financial Planning & Analysis, Investor Relations, Tax and Treasury) for publicly held and privately owned companies within the Consumer Goods industry.

An avid soccer fan, musician and aspiring chef, James has a great fondness for craft beers, coffee and Italian red wines. He has a Master’s Degree in History from Edinburgh University and lives in Connecticut with his wife and rambunctious daughter.
