George Popko

Managing Partner

George Popko is a Managing Partner and founding member of InveniasPartners and is based in the Princeton, New Jersey office. George has over 25 years of progressive experience in the Hospital and Healthcare industry as a senior executive.

Prior to joining InveniasPartners, George spent the last six years at Christ Hospital in Jersey City, New Jersey serving as the Chief Financial Officer. He was part of the initial management team that was hired after a failed merger with a regional healthcare system. George led the financial turnaround of a $170 million organization which was losing approximately $20 million annually. In his role he developed and implemented various strategies aimed at raising capital to maintain operations and make capital investments. He was responsible for all aspects of financial and administrative support operations. In 2012, Christ Hospital was successfully acquired by a local for profit healthcare system.

Before Christ Hospital, George served as the CFO for Cathedral Healthcare System in Newark, New Jersey. During his tenure there, George played a significant role in transforming a troubled two hospital system into a successful, financially viable enterprise consisting of four acute care hospitals, an occupational healthcare center and a long term /sub-acute care facility.

George has extensive experience in strategic planning, financial management, acquisitions and divestitures (Hospitals, Physician Practices, Nursing Homes and Home Care Agencies), information technology, capital formation, government and regulatory affairs.

George is a member of the Healthcare Financial Management Association. He serves on the Board of the Cusack Care Center in Jersey City, New Jersey and is a member of the Finance Counsel of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen (N.J.) where he chairs the audit committee. He recently joined the Board of Directors of ITelagen, an information technology company which provides services to multiple industries including healthcare.

George holds a B.S. in accounting from Rider University and a master’s in business administration (MBA) from Drexel University.
