Leadership Columbus Executive Director Shannon Lee to Step Down

COLUMBUS (November 15, 2023) – Leadership Columbus, the leading nonprofit provider of education and training for leaders in Central Ohio, today announced its executive director, Shannon Lee, will step down from the organization effective December 15, 2023.

Lee was named executive director of Leadership Columbus in February 2021. Under her guidance, the organization expanded its curriculum and increased program participation – reimagining the organization’s role to better meet the community’s needs.

“As an organization built on leadership, we understand the importance of assembling the right team. Shannon’s vision was pivotal in helping us evolve – and we will continue to build on this momentum,” explained Kelly Clifford Riehl, board chair at Leadership Columbus. “As we search for our next leader, the board and staff remain deeply committed to building upon this strong foundation.”

Lee has not shared specific future career steps; however, her immediate plans are to spend more time with family and focus on her overall health and well-being.

“I am grateful for the time spent at Leadership Columbus and the relationships built,” said Lee. “This decision was made with careful consideration, and I am confident it is the right step for my personal and professional journey.”

Central Ohio is in the midst of a profound transformation, requiring leaders who are equipped to serve as catalysts in building a strong, vibrant community. As Leadership Columbus prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024, the organization remains deeply committed to creating transformative experiences for Central Ohio’s current and emerging leaders.

The organization anticipates naming an interim executive director in the coming days. Leadership Columbus’s Board of Directors voted earlier today to engage Broadview Talent Partners to help attract a visionary executive who shares Leadership Columbus’s commitment to developing, connecting, and inspiring diverse leaders.
