Greenwood Asher & Associates Places Dr. Jeffery Scott Fleming as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of the District of Columbia

Miramar Beach, FL – January 9, 2025 – Greenwood Asher & Associates, a leading executive search firm, announced the selection of Dr. Jeffery Scott Fleming as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of the District of Columbia.

The University of the District of Columbia is a public historically black land-grant university in Washington, D.C. It was established in 1851 and is the only public university in the city. Dr. Fleming was selected following a nationwide search. He has served at the University of the District of Columbia for more than twenty years in a variety of positions including the Chair of the Division of Sciences and Mathematics, Associate Dean of Academic Affairs of the College of Arts and Sciences, and Interim Dean of the College.

Dr. April Massey, the University’s Chief Academic Officer, says the appointment of Dr. Fleming opens the door to an exciting new chapter for the College and University stating, “His expertise across arts and sciences programming creates opportunity for a number of unique and highly relevant programs. A trained mathematician, seasoned administrator, and tenured full professor, Dr. Fleming is already using his preparation and expertise as a leader, scholar, and teacher to establish a number of student, faculty, staff, and community-facing experiences focused on teaching, learning, research, and advocacy.”
